Description

2001 Used Other OTHER Class A in California, CA. 40ft Gillig Low Floor Transit Bus, ready for RV conversion, already titled and registered as a motorhome.I bought two buses recently in case I needed to mix and match parts to get one running bus. As a pleasant surprise, they both turned out to be in good condition. I really only need one, so I am of a mind to let one go as part of funding my upcoming conversion of the other. Both were in service as city transit buses until mid-2016, driven ~2000 miles from Iowa to California in November, and have been driven around the bay area for the last couple of months.I've removed most of the seats and some of the wheelchair restraint hardware. The seats are included, just not installed, if you happen to want to turn this back into a passenger bus after cleaning and improvements. I threw in temporary sink+stove+bed+toilet to get them through the DMV, but you'd want to start from scratch on those. They are both officially titled and registered as motorhomes so a CDL is not required to drive them in CA. Being over 7 tons, diesel, and non-commercial, they are exempt from smog testing and particulate filter requirements in CA.I'm actually not too picky which one I keep, so you'd mostly have your pick. One is a 2000, the other a 2001. There are some minor differences in the position of the rear door, rear raised floor, dash controls, and some of the air tanks; otherwise they are very similar. Both have a Cummins ISC engine and Voith automatic transmission. Both got 7.5MPG on the cross country trip, including some long mountain climbs and descents. Both are recently out of the shop at Cummins Pacific in San Leandro with fresh fluids and filters; one with a replaced coolant filter head valve, the other with a confirmed bad oil pressure gauge (and good oil sender and pressure sensor). Both come with one pair of tire chains, which I purchased and used for crossing Donner Pass under a snow restriction in November. Both have handicap ramps with disabled power/pneumatics but that are still structurally sound and can be deployed manually. Both have minor scrape+dent damage to a rear side panel with no structural damage. One has a busted "watch your step" light next to the rear door. Both have functioning Luminator sign systems, one with LEDs the other with flip dots.I'd be willing to take partial trade for hardware for converting the one that I keep. Solar and propane equipment, other fixtures, etc.
