2001 Used Volkswagen EUROVAN FULL CAMPER Class B in California, CA. 2001 Eurovan EVC (full camper) - nicknamed (Big) Bertha. Purchased mid-2015 completely and professionally refurbished (camper and VW chassis) by Poptop Heaven in Yucaipa, CA (www.poptopheaven.com). The 2001 has the larger VR6 engine and gets the van up mountains no problem.

Poptop Heaven specializes in refurbishing Eurovans ONLY and are pros at it. Bertha also includes a Poptop Heaven-installed custom lift with Bilstein shocks, bigger Mercedes-Benz-type black wheels, and burlier Kuhmo Tires 235/70/16 wheels. Spare wheel/tire is also upgraded. Poptop Heaven also applied a burly Rhinoliner trim on the lower half of the van, which you can see on the pictures. While Bertha is not 4x4 (front wheel drive, like all Eurovans), I have taken it on dirt roads (fire trail-type) with no issues, as well as driven it in snow without putting chains on (I have only put it on twice out of precaution).

I purchased a 60-month/50,000 mile warranty from UAL (effective starting mid-2015) covering engine group (inc. rotary parts), turbocharger, transmission, drive axle group, seals and gaskets, power steering, electrical, brakes, front/rear suspension, cooling, A/C, rental/substitute transportation in case of breakdown, and more. This is the "Estate" warranty, the highest level offered by UAL. I have driven approximately 10,000 miles since purchasing the van and warranty.

In short, you are buying peace of mind with the solid Poptop Heaven professional refurb, and the UAL warranty. Bertha has been garaged indoors since purchase, and serviced regularly at VW Santa Monica (records available). As I hope the pictures show, she has received lot of TLC.

Two minor issues (see pics): there is a small scratch on the driver's side, and another small scratch on the rear of the poptop. Both are cosmetic and easily fixed.

Bertha has been a dream to drive, with no major issues. She's gone from LA to Mammoth regularly without a problem, up to Tahoe and even Mount Shasta (Bunny Flats, elev. 13,000'!). She's a champ, and has been very very reliable in the 2 years I've owned her. I'm moving on to something bigger; I'm sorry to see her go, but hope she can bring joy to a deserving person or family!
