Description

2011 Used Adventurer Lp ADVENTURER 116DS Class C in California, CA. Extremely hard to find RV (anywhere but Canada)! This is a 2010/2011 (chassis built by Ford in 2010, box manufactured in 2011) Adventurer Alp 19RD. Adventurer RV is located in Washington, and for these models adds their 4-season boxes to a Ford E350 Superduty chassis with a 5.4 engine. The units are then shipped directly to Canada, where they are used as rental units. I live in a town that requires anything parked in a driveway to not hang out over the sidewalk, so I searched high and low for a class C RV that was under 20 feet (from bumper to bumper). The ONLY later-model RVs that were under 20 feet that I could find were those that Cruise America uses (the Thor M19), but they do not sell them with anything but extremely high miles on them and they have a rear bathroom (with no windows to enjoy the view when backed in to a spot). I found my Adventurer in British Columbia, and then after I decided to buy it the dealer swapped the km speedometer for mph, and I had to buy a Canadian insurance permit in order to drive the unit back to SoCal. After I got it here, I had to show letters that indicated the chassis was 50-State compliant (it was because it was built in the US) and that the box was US compliant for safety. I now have a clear CA title, registration, and plates. I just paid for a new registration cycle. I am a mechanic, and I wanted a unit that was not beat onto the ground. This unit had 60,000 miles on it when I flew up to Washington, and I was particularly interested in it because the company from which I bought it never equips their rigs with hitches...so I knew no one had ever abused it by towing excessive weight (or anything, for that matter). I also was given the entire service record history, so there were no guesses there. Even though it was exceptionally maintained, as soon as I got the unit home I replaced the engine oil, filter, tranny fluid, filter, spark plugs, brake pads all around, cleaned inspected and repacked front wheel bearings and added new seals, replaced the serpentine belt, idler pulley, tensioner, air filter, upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat, and antifreeze (Motorcraft Gold). I also added a bluetooth touch screen stereo. I mountain bike, so I added a front hitch...and I planned to tow a Polaris UTV, so I added a rear hitch. The wiring harness was prewired, so I also added a flat/7-wire socket, and a brake controller which plugged into a factory harness. I also replaced all the inside lights with LEDs, added a waterproof rug that covers the entire floor, and purchased a cover (it is always covered). This unit is single-axle (but has 4.10 gears), is narrower than a standard class C RV, and drives like a car (I also added a factory steering stabilizer...the frame was already prepared for being tapped). I can park in any car spot, and it makes RVing much easier. This unit is ready to be driven anywhere with zero surprises.
